Don't be fooled by the hype!

Was recently reading in some industry mags and had to chuckle over some of the marketing ploys some spas are using to draw you in and make you think you are getting something "unique" and therefore justifying the ridiculous prices they charge. Let me be the one to tell you, there is a lot of hype over some newer but somewhat standard treatment methods.
Last year The Bathery got a Clarisonic face brush and an ultrasonic skin scraper. The Clarisonic is an amazing ultrasonic brush used for cleansing the skin. The skin scraper is a useful tool that gently and effectively "scrapes off" dead skin cells via "cavitation". A lot like the Sonicare ultrasonic toothbrush.
Interestingly, we have been hearing a lot about "crystal-free microdermabrasion" and had to find out what this could be.... well.... it's nothing more than ultrasonic skin scraping. And spas are charging hundreds for it!
Another spa we recently read about is offering an "ultrasonic facial". Of course this perked our interest since we are using ultrasonics at The Bathery. As it turns out, the facial is 30 minutes of nothing more than using the Clarisonic brush to cleanse your face, then exfoliate using the ultrasonic scraper, and the additional use of the new Clarisonic Opal which is for exclusive use around the eyes to penetrate eye creams deeper into thin tissue. (The Bathery may get one of these soon).
What we find so humorous in all this is that, at The Bathery, we incorporate ultrasonics into almost every facial we do. We almost always use the Clarisonic brush for cleansing, and depending on the type of facial we are doing we like to use the ultrasonic scraper for both exfoliating and penetrating of masks and creams. And we don't charge extra for it! It's standard operating procedure.
So don't be fooled by these high end fancy spas telling you that you need to spend hundreds of dollars for their special procedures. You don't. Just come to The Bathery.
